About the Fire Department

The Frenchtown Fire Department is a combination department made up of full-time and paid-on-call firefighters. The Department Chief, Wendy Stevens; Shift Captain and Department Secretary, Angie Ashcraft staff the headquarters at Station 1. The Fire Inspector, Joshua Maddox and the Shift Lieutenant staffs Station 2. Both Station 1 and Station 2 have at least two full-time firefighters (including the Officer) on duty 24 hours per day, 7 days a week.

The department has four fire stations located in Frenchtown Township. Most of the department firefighters have become Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT’s) or Paramedics. We have 17 full-time firefighters and 7 paid-on-call (POC) firefighters. POC firefighters must live in the township or within 1 mile of the township boundary and respond from their homes. To apply for a POC firefighter position select the application link on the left side of this page or pick up an application packet at Station 1 or at the township hall. Applicants must pass all testing requirements, then are sent to school to take Firefighter I and II course before they can run calls. They must be an EMT before running rescue calls.
