Trash is collected in Frenchtown Charter Township Monday through Friday. All carts must be out to the curbside for collection the night before service day.

BROWN CARTS = GARBAGE ONLY                   BLUE CARTS = YARD WASTE ONLY

Service includes: Trash, yard waste (seasonally April 1- November 30) and bulk item collection. Large BROWN containers must be utilized for garbage disposal due to the automated trucks used by the company.  Trash and seasonal yard waste collection is accomplished on a weekly basis. Each house has been provided at least one BROWN large garbage cart.  If you need a BROWN/BLUE cart or an additional cart please contact the Supervisor’s Office at 734-242-3282 option #3.

Trash service will be delayed one day if one of these major holidays falls on scheduled collection day (M-F):

  • New Year’s Day
  • Labor Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • July 4th
  • Christmas Day

BULK ORDER REQUESTS

Contact: Steven’s Disposal directly by emailing frenchtownbulk@stevensdisposal.com (include Name, Address, Phone Number, Trash pickup day and item(s) to be picked up) or call the Supervisor’s Office at (734) 242-3282 ext 3 and we will submit a Bulk Order request. Please contact Steven’s Disposal or the Supervisor’s Office to request a large item pick up by:

3:00 pm Monday for TUESDAY BULK (Mon. Tues. and Wed. garbage pickup days) 

3:00 pm Wednesday for THURSDAY BULK (Thurs. and Fri. garbage pickup days)

YARD WASTE PICKUP

Yard Waste is picked up April 1 – November 30 and must be in BLUE Yard Waste Only Carts, brown paper leaf/composting bag or a smaller labeled  32 gallon capacity or less old style garbage can. Yard waste labels may be obtained free of charge at the Township Hall or Frenchtown Libraries. Tree branches must not be longer than four feet in length nor greater than two inches in diameter. Large bundles of tree branches need to be tied then stacked neatly for handling. 

Streetlight Outages

Problems with a streetlight not operating properly should be reported to the Supervisor’s Office. Include exact location of the light, pole number, material of pole (wood or metal) and a contact phone number when reporting.

Dead Animal Disposal

This service is temporarily unavailable.  Please contact the Monroe County Road Commission at 734-240-5100 when animals are killed within the road right-of-way. The exact location and a close description of the animal along with your name and telephone number are necessary when the dead animal is reported to the Road Commission.

Employment Applications

Township and Fire Fighter employment applications are handled at the reception area of the Township Hall in the Supervisor’s Department. Applications/resumes are held for one year and may be updated or changed at any time.
